Maybe if there was a real person actually going through the sequence it would give me an idea as to what I can improve on. I was screaming inside my head for the voiceover to just SHUT UP so I can stay in the pose in silence for one minute!Īlso, with all the money they collect couldn’t the app developers actually find someone real to put in the video? It’s easy for an animation to switch between child’s pose and upward facing dog in the blink of an eye and repeat it like 10 times, but the “flow” is not so smooth when I do it. There’s no way anyone can get over the repetitive monotonous Siri-like countdown and actually focus on the practice. Third, when you’re holding a pose for several breaths the monotonous voiceover starts counting down the seconds. I was doing the Desert practice and at one point the instructions told me to go from an extended side angle pose to a low push up in one exhale. They don’t include intermediary poses when transitioning from one pose to another. I’m sure with all the money they get from their users the developers of this app can hire a voice actor or actress to narrate the practices so it feels more organic. It’s like Siri giving you the instructions in an unbearably monotonous voice with a weird intonation.

I don’t write app reviews often but I had such a bad experience with Pocket Yoga that I have to say something about it.įirst off, the voiceover sounds like a robot. Raven_zuhre's Review of Pocket Yoga Reviewed on 10/13/18 4:34 AM The voiceover instructions are BAD! star star_border star_border star_border star_border I’ll stick with it but it should have been more.finished before I paid for it.Īlso just a nitpick but if the instructor could have skin tones that we could pick from that would be amazing.like this is a yoga app but only a light skin tone lady? come on! at least let me pick a brown or darker skin tone. This is clearly a new app (couldn’t even send feedback since there’s no email configured to that button!) I have hope that with updates it can get better. App doesn’t account for total beginners or someone with a busy schedule. Wish there was a shorter time frame of 15 minutes. There should be a way to slow down the flow of the practice. Transitions between poses are too fast sometimes, like the app doesn’t recognize that it takes some time to move into the next pose. Good app but i really wish this app was more polished before i paid 2.99 for it :/ kind of a bummer. Great concept, needs tweaks star star star_border star_border star_borderĬcccja's Review of Pocket Yoga Reviewed on 10/2/18 5:48 AM This one only takes a few buttons to get to the action, but I still want a one-click option. I’ve used one called Yoga Studio that was more comprehensive but easier to get lost in. But there are probably better apps out there. I’d like to just be able to open my app and with one click, just go. The narration is pretty good (but odd that she doesn’t know how to say any numbers between the 10s), the ability to skip to the next move is useful, being able to print or even preview all the poses is good, but I wish there were a shuffle button.

The simple flash-card style visuals are an understandable way to create an inexpensive product, but first-time users think they have to jump or spring to the next pose. It's convenient to have it on your iPhone and be able to AirPlay it up to your Apple TV. Some mildly fun customization that keeps you interested. The art design is simple and un-intimidating. I've used this app off and on for years and it’s pretty good. Good enough, could use a churching up star star star star star_borderĪnOrphanGrlScout's Review of Pocket Yoga Reviewed on 4/29/18 4:25 PM I hate to say this, but it may be time to switch apps! Not everyone can fit in a 30 minute minimum routine every day. I allot myself only 15 minutes in the morning and usually do another short session in the afternoon. On top of that, I would like to see shorter session offerings. There is way too much boredom happening! There has to be some variation! Without offering the ability to create your own routine WITHIN this original app, I say skip it! Not worth the money! There HAS to be more updates! There REALLY needs to be more variety in the routines, not just 3 routines in each of the sections. I am very disheartened to see it is now a separate app or bundle purchase that I would need to repurchase. Back when I purchased it, the “create your own routine” was available and imbedded in this original app. Purchased this app over a year ago and was originally impressed with it, I feel now that it needs a few updates.
